16 candidates to run in Don Valley West byelection

Voters will have a choice of 16 candidates in the Nov. 4 city council byelection in Don Valley West.

The byelection was called to replace Coun. Jaye Robinson, who died on May 16 at the age of 61. Robinson represented the ward from 2010 until her death. City council officially declared the seat vacant on June 26.

The city said in a news release on Thursday that the city clerk has certified all 16 candidates for councillor. The nomination window to fill a vacant council seat in Ward 15 closed on Thursday at 2 p.m.

Advance voting will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On election day, voting locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The list of certified candidates is as follows:

Ward 15 is bordered by Yonge Street to the west, Leslie Street to the east and Highway 401 to the north. Its southern border runs roughly along the Don River, just above the Evergreen Brickworks.
