Police in Saskatoon are investigating two homicides from the weekend.
Two suspects are in custody, and appeared in provincial court on Monday, Nov. 18. They are both scheduled to return to court on Nov. 20.
The violent deaths are not connected, police say.
Katelin Shawna McGillivary is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jordanna Kucher. It’s alleged that the 36-year-old killed Kucher at the Copper Mug Pub and Eatery on Nov. 15.
Police were called to a strip mall on Eighth Street early in the evening for reports of an injured person. They remained at the scene overnight.
McGillivary was remanded until Wednesday. In addition to staying in custody, the judge ordered that she not contact 13 individuals at the prosecutor’s request.
Police did not say how Kucher died.

Meanwhile, officers were called to a house on the 400 block of 26th Street West on Sunday, Nov. 17.
Timothy Smith, 45, is alleged to have killed Landon Waddell at the property. Smith appeared in provincial court on Monday, charged with manslaughter.
Police did not say how Waddell died.
Kucher and Waddell are the city’s 13th and 14th homicides this year, and the first violent deaths reported since August. The record for homicides in a year is 16, in 2019.
