A third teen boy has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a man in Scarborough in July.
Police have said the death is a tow truck industry-related homicide.
The boy, 15, was arrested and charged on Nov. 14 and was scheduled to appear in court on that day.
In a news release on Thursday, police said the charge is in connection to the death of Sulakshan Selvasingam, 28, of Pickering.
Selvasingam was found with gunshot wounds at a gas station in the area of Warden Avenue and Ellesmere Road on July 6. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His death marks the city’s 45th homicide of the year.
On July 16, Toronto police, with the help of the Ontario Provincial Police, arrested two other teen boys in Selvasingam’s death, a 15-year-old from Oshawa and a 16-year-old from Stouffville.
Both were charged with first-degree murder. Police allege they were armed a Glock handgun when they were arrested.
Police said the two teens were responsible for 11 other shootings from June 29 to July 14, including eight over the Canada Day long weekend. According to police, the pair used three stolen vehicles over that period.
The two are facing an additional 154 charges in relation to the 11 shootings.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, none of the teens can be named.
