Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after another collision involving a reportedly stolen vehicle in Toronto on Monday night.
The two-vehicle crash happened around 10:30 p.m. in the intersection of Eglinton Avenue and Brimley Road in Scarborough.
According to police, five people were in the allegedly stolen vehicle at the time of the collision. Four of them, who were all later arrested, were taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
The four include two men, a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old girl. A fifth person, a 16-year-old girl, remains outstanding, police said.
There was no word on any charges early Tuesday.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 51-year-old man, had minor injuries, police said.
Images from the scene showed one vehicle had a crushed front end, while the other had significant damage to its rear.
A TTC bus shelter was also damaged.
A police spokesperson said there was no ongoing pursuit at the time of the crash.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate. More information is expected later this morning.
The SIU is an independent agency that investigates police conduct in incidents that results in death, serious injury, the discharge of a firearm or allegations of sexual assault.
The crash comes just a week after nine people were hurt when an allegedly stolen BMW slammed into a TTC bus in North York.
Three people were charged in a home invasion and carjacking investigation linked to that collision.
