Real Madrid vs Real Betis: Match preview

Must read

After a disappointing draw way from home, Real Madrid return to the Santiago Bernabeu in hopes of turning the tide on unfavorable results with a win against Real Betis.

Historically, Betis have proven to be a tricky side for the Merengues. In the last 7 games between them, 5 have ended in draws, with just 2 wins for the men in white.

Even though Betis have not won either of those fixtures, they usually make it difficult for Madrid to score as they often play a low block and are expected to do so this time around as well. This is especially the case with their important players, such as Marc Bartra and Isco, ruled out of this fixture.

On the other hand, Real Madrid would hope for Eduardo Camavinga’s swift recovery as the Frenchman has begun to slowly run indoors. Jude Bellingham will also be unavailable as he is still out with his last injury.

Brahim Díaz got an opportunity to show his class when he got a start in the last match. However, he was unable to do so and was ultimately substituted at half-time.

Arda Güler and Rodrygo are expected to start this match as they were the few bright spots against Las Palmas, coming off the bench. Rodrygo is likely to start on the right wing with Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius yet again.

Speaking of Mbappe, the Frenchman has registered more shots (17), shots on target (7) and a higher xG without scoring (2.03) than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

On the other hand, Vinicius has created 13 chances across all competitions this season – the highest of any player in Europe’s top five leagues.

These statistics show that even though this duo has not started firing, they have the potential to do so and it is only a matter of time before they do.

This happens to be the last game before the September international break and the Merengues would be eager to put on an exceptional display in front of the Bernabeu faithful.
