A story by the Canadian Press posted to the Toronto Star website reports that multiple Eclipse Award-winning owner/breeder Frank Stronach has been arrested on five charges related to a sexual assault investigation.
In a press release, Peel Regional Police of Ontario, Canada, say Stronach has been charged with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault on a female, one forcible confinement, and two counts of sexual assault. The release says the incidents date back to the 1980s and as recent as last year.
“(Stronach) has been released on conditions and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date,” the release says.
Police say Stronach, 91, of Aurora, Ontario, was charged June 7.
Brian Greenspan, who according to the Toronto Star will be representing Stronach, issued a statement to that paper.
“Mr. Stronach categorically denies the allegations of impropriety which have been brought against him,” Greenspan said. “He looks forward to the opportunity to fully respond to the charges and to maintain his legacy, both as a philanthropist and as an icon of the Canadian business community.”
Note: As this is a matter of public record, BloodHorse has opted to report this story. While Stronach has been charged with these crimes according to Peel Regional Police, BloodHorse emphasizes that at this point these are accusations and a court process is yet to begin.
