Canada and South Africa have officially renewed their Audiovisual Co-Production Agreement, marking a significant development in the collaboration between the two countries’ creative industries. The agreement was signed by Canadian High Commissioner Chris Cooter and South Africa’s Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, during FAME Week Africa.

Initially signed in 1997, the agreement has been updated to reflect modern trends in the audiovisual sector. The renewal aims to strengthen partnerships between Canadian and South African companies in film and television production.

Nina Dube, Trade Commissioner at the Canadian High Commission in South Africa, highlighted the importance of the agreement, expressing enthusiasm for future opportunities in the creative industries. This renewed pact is expected to further boost collaboration and expand South Africa’s global footprint in the entertainment industry.
