A POSITIVE START FOR THE PRIMAVERA

It’s undoubtedly been a positive start to the season for the revamped Milan Primavera. The team recorded two wins from their opening two outings against Udinese and Torino before losing to Genoa following a match where they played with ten men from just before half-time. This is a new-look side – from the coach to the players – whose performances so far only serve to underline the quality that exists within the Rossoneri youth setup.

With the backbone of the team from the last two excellent seasons now part of the Milan Futuro setup, many lads from younger age groups have made the step up to the Primavera side, from the U18s down. As many as 26 players have taken to the pitch across the first three matches this season, and a further four have been included on the bench.

Coach Guidi will undoubtedly be pleased with what he’s seen. Following the victories over Udinese and Torino, he praised the players’ application and the consistency of their daily work. The Coach also mentioned how the group has been extremely receptive to implementing the instructions of the new technical staff. The outlook is already good, and the team will be looking to push on after the international break, knowing that an intense schedule awaits.

On the horizon are four league fixtures, including the first derby of the season, and the start of the Youth League, where the Rossoneri, who reached the final last season, will play Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen in their first two outings. The U20s will thus have another six opportunities to build on the opening 270 minutes of the campaign and pick up results that reflect the excellent daily work being carried out at the PUMA House of Football.
