The City of Montreal is located on an island in the Saint Lawrence River and is the largest city in the Quebec Province of Canada. Known for its rich European history, architecture and food, residents here are often heard speaking French – specifically, Quebecois. Of course, English is also commonly used there as well.

Some of the more popular historical sites to see in the city include the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal, Old Montreal and Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal. Other famous places to see are the Parc du Mont-Royal (Mount Royal Park), Jardin Botanique Montreal (Montreal Botanical Garden) or the Jean-Talon Market.

Looking for a bite to eat? Montreal is best known for its bagels and poutine – a Canadian delicacy made with French fries, cheese curds and brown gravy (don’t knock it, until you try it).
