Notts showed ‘firepower’ in comeback – Maynard

Notts County showcased the ferocity of their attack in their comeback victory at Bromley to go top of League Two, says Magpies boss Stuart Maynard.

Bromley went 2-0 up inside the first six minutes on Saturday, only for Notts to go on to win 4-2 in a remarkable game at Hayes Lane.

Jodi Jones pulled a goal back from the penalty spot just minutes after Bromley went two up, and the Malta international completed the victory with an 89th-minute strike after second-half goals from Dan Crowley and Alassana Jatta had edged the visitors ahead.

“I’ve harped on about clean sheets this season, but what we have also got in this group is firepower,” Maynard told BBC Radio Nottingham.

“We can outscore teams and we showed another side of us.”

Notts were last top of the fourth tier in October last year, when National League promotion-winning boss Luke Williams was still in charge of the club.

“It means a lot to everyone,” Maynard said of getting Notts back to the League Two summit.

“It means a lot in the sense that we are having success. It means we are performing well on the pitch.”

Notts captain Matt Palmer, who made his first start for 11 months after coming back this season from a knee injury, said it was “nice to be sitting top of the league” after six games.

“It’s something to build on,” Palmer added.

“It’s still very early days and a lot of the season is still to go, but it’s been a really good start.”
