Harry Kane makes history as leading English scorer in UCL 👑

Harry Kane has become the leading English goalscorer in Champions League history with his 31st strike in the competition coming for Bayern Munich against Dinamo Zagreb.

The England captain, who went past Wayne Rooney in both the national team and Premier League standings in recent years, scored four goals to break Rooney’s lingering UCL record of 30.

The record-breaking moment arrived via Kane’s second of the night, and the Bayern ace extended his personal tally in the competition to 33 with two strikes from the penalty spot afterward.

And while Rooney was not a traditional centre forward for much of his career, often playing deeper or out wide, Kane’s goals to game ratio is still markedly better.

He has hit his 33 in just 45 games (21 for Tottenham), while Rooney reached the mark in 85. Albeit, he also did score several in playoff rounds, and in Manchester United’s 2011 final loss to Barcelona, one of three finals he played in.

The now-Plymouth manager won the famous trophy in 2008, while Kane has still to win a senior medal in his career, as everyone is aware of by now.
