Carlisle United head coach Mike Williamson was delighted to begin his spell in charge with a first victory.
The Cumbrians won 2-0 away to Swindon Town for only their second win in League Two this season.
It came just over 48 hours after Williamson was appointed from his previous role at MK Dons.
“The lads were magnificent, they put their bodies on the line from minute one,” he told BBC Radio Cumbria.
A goal in each half from Sam Lavelle and Luke Armstrong secured the three points at the County Ground, although it keeps them 22nd in the table.
But it gives Williamson a platform from which to start to implement his ideas on his new squad.
“The players welcomed me to the club and said ‘what can we do?,” he said.
“Straight away you can see the characters and the personality and they came out and delivered.
“There are so many positives. We’ve got a group of warriors here, so I’m really pleased about that.”
