Stevenage defender Charlie Goode could be out until the new year with a broken leg.
The 29-year-old limped off shortly before half-time in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Exeter City in League One.
In the lead-up to Tuesday night’s game against Wigan Athletic, Boro announced the summer arrival from Brentford had sustained a broken fibula.
He joins fellow centre-back Dan Sweeney and midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey on the long-term injury list.
Former Northampton man Goode signed for Stevenage in August on a 12-month deal with the option for a further year.
He joined after an injury-plagued four-year spell during which he made just 31 appearances, 14 for the Bees, two each on loan with Sheffield United and Blackpool and 13 on loan at Wigan last season.
At the time Boro boss Alex Revell said: “Charlie has missed a lot of football over the last four years, but he’s passed every medical and physical test we’ve put in front of him.”
There is better news on the injury front for Boro as forward Aaron Pressley (ankle) is due back next month and goalkeeper Taye Ashby-Hammond (hand) has returned to training.
Last season’s top scorer Jamie Reid made his first start of the season at Exeter on Saturday, playing for 66 minutes having recovered from a leg injury which kept him out for three months.
