A woman is now facing a charge of second-degree murder after her alleged victim died from injuries sustained in a stabbing in Surrey, B.C., last month.
Surrey RCMP said they were called to a report of a pedestrian struck by a car near 108 Avenue and King George Boulevard in the early morning of Sept. 8.
When officers arrived, they discovered the woman in distress had been stabbed. She died in hospital on Sept. 13.
Jennifer Kipp, 36, was originally charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.
Kipp had previously been found guilty on two counts of aggravated assault in May 2023, according to online court records, and given one year probation.
In a statement on Monday, Surrey RCMP said Kipp was charged with second-degree murder on Oct. 3 and remains in custody.
She is next due to appear in Surrey provincial court on Friday.
