Snow Falls in Western North Carolina as Cold Forecasted in Appalachia

At least three inches of snow were measured on Big Bald mountain in North Carolina on October 16, as the local National Weather Service (NWS) forecasted freezing temperatures continuing into Wednesday night.

This footage recorded by Timm Davis shows snow at 5,516 feet of elevation on Big Bald, Davis said.

Davis said at least three inches had fallen as of 9:30 am local time.

Cold temperatures were forecast for western North Carolina into Wednesday night, the NWS said, with below-freezing temps of 28 degrees forecast in nearby Burnsville. Credit: Timm Davis via Storyful
