Ball State senior Braxton Kuntz, of Winnipeg, has been selected to the 2025 Team Canada – NextGen program. The announcement was made Wednesday when Golf Canada announced it’s 2025 Team Canada roster. The Breezy Bend Country Club member and four-time Manitoba Men’s Amateur Champion and Team Manitoba Alumni is one of only ten male athletes selected from across the country to join the program.
Kuntz is with his Cardinals teammates this week in Nassau, Bahamas, where Ball State begins competition in the White Sands Bahamas Invitational on Friday. Kuntz, a transfer from Nicholls State last year, was instrumental in helping the Cardinals to the 2024 Mid-American Conference championship and a berth in the NCAA Regionals. He set a program record by firing a 62 in the opening round of the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional last May, carding the best opening round of an NCAA Regional since at least 1998. Since that time he won his fourth Manitoba Amateur title and played with tour exemption in a PGA America event last summer.
Golf Canada’s National Team program supports a group of experienced amateurs on the path towards playing professional golf along with a group of young professional golfers building their careers as touring pros. The program provides individualized training and competition support with a goal to help advance 30 Canadian athletes to the LPGA and PGA TOUR by 2032.
