TPC on Scene: Hyatt Vivid Debuts in Cancun

Must read

The Hyatt Vivid Grand Island resort officially opened this week, with a launch party held on Thursday night in conjunction with Cancun Travel Mart.

It marks the debut of the new Hyatt Vivid brand, which is Hyatt’s latest all-inclusive offering aimed at a younger, experience-seeking traveler demographic.

The 400 room, adults-only property is the 10th brand in the World of Hyatt Inclusive Collection and is the first Vivid property in the portfolio. Vivid was developed to cater to a slightly different market segment compared to the Secrets brand, aimed at a younger, more globally-minded traveler demographic, often in the 30+ age range, who are looking for a more locally-immersive experience.

“We’ve been working since 2021 as we saw an evolving market and a niche that wasn’t being served in the way it should be,” Phillipe Frey, Senior Vice President Operations Inclusive Collection Latin America & Caribbean explains. “That brought Vivid to life. It’s a fit for the younger generation who is well travelled and looking for experiences that reflect the local culture of Mexico.”

Well-being is a key priority for Vivid, with a focus on sustainable, healthy food options, as well as wellness activities like rooftop yoga, water exercises and sound healing.

Vivid features 5 ala carte restaurants – Aglio (Italian), Dalia (Mexican), Le Lys (French), Mediteraneo (Mediterranean) and Oishii (Japanese). There’s also a buffet (Galeria International Café), 7 bars and 3 snack bars including a “Vivid Bites” food truck.

It also features the longest rooftop infinity pool in Cancun providing spectacular 360 degree views.

Like other World of Hyatt Inclusive Collection properties, Vivid has its own preferred club called Vantage Club with rooms on floors 8 through 11 that provide separate check in area with a lounge that has a beautiful bar and light bites. Rooms have stocked mini bar and are very similar to regular rooms in terms of style and décor; with Vantage Club suites having a jacuzzi tub and better views of either the lagoon or golf course next door. Room service is available from 7am until 11pm and free wi-fi is included.

Vivid is connected to the Dreams Grand Island, which is still under construction and expected to open next year.  During a site tour with Vivid’s communications manager Christian Porcayo, we learned that special rates are currently still available for Vivid because of this. The spa for example, will not be finished until Dreams is completed so rates are discounted. Guests are also able to take advantage of an 18 hole golf course, owned by Iberostar for $130 US pp which includes clubs and cart or play a game of pickleball or tennis on site.

Vivid isn’t located on the beach, but they do have their own beach club only a five minute shuttle away. Ennea Beach Club is a private boho-chic beach club on Playa Delfines for adults only.

“When you talk about well-being, it’s not only about our yoga or sound healing experiences, it’s something personal and it’s not the same for everyone,” adds Frey. “This is why we offer a vast array of experiences to deliver that.”
