2 pedestrians died when an SUV hit them on Walker Road this week

Two people walking down the street were killed this week when an SUV hit them on Walker Road, Windsor police say.

A 68-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man died from the collision, police said Wednesday.

It happened just after 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18. Police say officers were dispatched to the intersection of Walker Road and Niagara Street for a report of a crash involving a vehicle and two pedestrians.

When officers arrived on the scene, police say they saw an SUV heavily damaged and turned on its side.

The pedestrians died as a result of their injuries. Their names have not been released.

The driver was extricated by fire and rescue workers and taken to hospital, police say.

That area of Walker Road was closed for several hours.

Police are still investigating the crash.
