Police identify man who allegedly shot at vehicles on Highway 401

Police say they have identified a man who allegedly shot at multiple vehicles on Highway 401 in Mississauga on Tuesday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Wednesday that they have obtained an arrest warrant for the 29-year-old Toronto man.

“So far, more than 10 motorists have reported their vehicles being struck by the gunshots, though no serious injuries were reported as a result of the incident,” the release said.

Police have said they received several 911 calls shortly after 5 a.m. about a man foot on the highway shooting at vehicles in the eastbound lanes near Dixie Road.

They say no serious injuries were reported.

Police allege then suspect stole a vehicle from a passing motorist before fleeing the area. He was last seen in Etobicoke, they said.

Police are are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.

They say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous, and they’re warning the public to not approach if they see him.
