African financial asset platform focused on simplifying savings, investing and spending globally, GIGX Technologies has announced that it has acquired operational licenses in Zambia and Canada for its product, XPAD.
The newly obtained Payment Service Provider (PSP) license in Zambia grants GIGX technologies the ability to own, operate, and manage a payment services infrastructure within the country.
The company acquired a Money Services Business (MSB) license in Canada, marking a significant expansion of its service offerings beyond Africa. This license will enable the company to provide a broad range of financial services, including money transmission, currency exchange, check cashing, and virtual currency platforms, positioning the company as an intercontinental financial services provider.
An expansion into North America will also enhance its offerings and strengthen its position as a key player in the global financial services industry.
By combining multi-currency wallet solutions with licensed financial services in Canada, XPAD is better equipped to meet the needs of a diverse client base—from individuals and families seeking efficient remittance solutions to businesses in need of reliable, cross-border financial services.
“With these strategic licenses, XPAD is set to change the way individuals and businesses in Nigeria conduct cross-border transactions. The company hopes to make essential financial services more accessible, secure, and efficient”, said Osamede Arhunmwunde, CEO and Co-founder of GIGX Technologies.
Born out of wanting to offer GIG Logistics‘ over 500k customers a tool to send, receive, and exchange currency, GIGX Technologies has pioneered partnerships with the likes of Ernst & Young, Fireblocks, and even Techstars Toronto Accelerator portfolio company, Quidax.
Before its launch in 2021, we reported an insider story that suggests that a major African brand operating within the mobility and logistics sector, was in the advanced stages of a collaboration with a set of international partners to develop and launch what may be the first Africa-wide decentralised blockchain-enabled project financing platform.
Later, the company confirmed in a statement that it was launching a platform which would be Africa’s first decentralised marketplace.

Following that, the company developed an all-in-one app that allows users to store, earn, invest and spend their crypto-assets. The app is bringing solutions that would help make finance accessible for all Africans and beyond Africa, just like its parent company.
ow, GIGX Technologies has restructured its services from using cryptocurrency to solve global payment challenges and leaned into a more direct approach, offering users multi-currency wallets for global remittances.
This will enable the company to facilitate efficient, secure cross-border transactions, offering individuals and businesses seamless access to critical payment solutions.
GIGX was admitted into the Techstars Toronto Accelerator 2022 Cohort, a feat that validates its mission to make finance available for Africans.
