Garth Brooks is detailing his “misfit Thanksgiving” plans with wife Trisha Yearwood amid a rocky period for the family.
The country music legend made a Tuesday night appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and told the late-night host that the family is set to have a Thanksgiving celebration with Nashville music industry insiders.
Then, the family does “a misfit Thanksgiving,” because they invite “a lot of people” from the Nashville music industry with “families somewhere else, so they’re alone on Thanksgiving. She opens up her doors.”
Brooks added that the family is planning to host about 25 people at their Tennessee home.

He added that he assists with clean up because his Food Network host wife is “a fantastic cook” and he doesn’t “want to get in the way of perfection.”
Kimmel did not address the rape allegations leveled at the country singer, who is the genre’s bestselling artist of all time. Brooks also said that he is finishing up his long-running Vegas residency, which ends early next year, so the family is getting a head start on Jan. 1.
“Mrs. Yearwood said we’re starting Christmas now, and that was about three weeks ago. She dug the Christmas tree out of the basement. It’s already up. We’re ready to go. We got Christmas music going,” he said.
In October, Brooks was the subject of a federal lawsuit after the country music star was accused of sexual assault and battery allegations by a former hair and make-up artist, who claimed he raped her in a Los Angeles hotel room in 2019.
Prior to Roe’s filing, it was reported by CNN that an anonymous celebrity plaintiff – now revealed as Brooks – tried to block his accuser from publicly repeating her allegations and denied the woman’s various claims of abuse.
The lawsuit followed his attempt to block claims from public view via a lawsuit he filed, as John Doe, on Sept. 13 in Mississippi federal court, the same day the country singer publicly announced the end of his Las Vegas residency.
This fall’s filing from John Doe, or Brooks, alleged that the sexual assault claims “would irreparably harm Plaintiff’s reputation, family, career and livelihood.” Brooks has been married to Grammy Award-winning Yearwood since 2005.
