Borussia Dortmund star dreaming of Barcelona move; would cost €25-30 million

Donyell Malen has been a curious case of sorts since joining Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021.

The Dutchman has shown glimpses of his talent here and there, but he has never been consistent enough to become a true X-factor for Dortmund going forward.

Despite that, Malen remains a hot prospect in the transfer market, with Barcelona among the clubs interested in his services.

Malen dreams of a big move

Interestingly, a recent report from Florian Plettenberg has offered an update on the future of Donyell Malen, suggesting that the Dortmund forward is already dreaming of joining a bigger club.

Malen is particularly angling for a move to either Barcelona or Arsenal, as he looks to take the next step in his career.

During his time at Dortmund, the Dutchman has racked up 38 goals and 20 assists in 128 competitive matches. He was notably involved in 20 goals last season.

This time around, Malen has found it more difficult to get into the starting eleven, no thanks to the summer arrival of Maximilian Beier and Serhou Guirassy.

Malen: A big risk for Barcelona?

As mentioned earlier, Malen’s performances at Dortmund have not been overly impressive in the Bundesliga.

Even when the Dutchman has performed, he has simply lacked the consistency to be able to assert himself as one of the best in the German league.

Banking on such an inconsistent forward, therefore, could prove to be a major gamble from Barcelona’s perspective.

This is relevant, especially considering the fact that Dortmund are demanding €25-30 million for the services of the former PSV Eindhoven starlet.
