RBC Canadian Open honors Taylor with logo change

RBC Canadian Open

One of the most memorable moments in RBC Canadian Open history will now have a permanent place with the tournament going forward. Nick Taylor took the 2023 tournament with a walk-off eagle on 18 at Oakdale Golf & Country Club to become the first Canadian to win the national open in 69 years. Golf Canada subsequently inserted Taylor’s profile into the official tournament logo for the 2024 event.

Now, the governing body has made Taylor’s putter flip part of the tournament logo permanently. Officials from the governing body on Thursday delivered the news to Taylor, who is an RBC ambassador. Golf Canada did not work with an agency on the logo design. In fact, a staffer first mocked up the logo when carving it on a pumpkin in the fall of 2023. The redesigned logo won the PGA Tour award for Best Marketing Initiative at the tour’s tournament meetings this week in Orlando.

RBC still does not have a long-term deal with the tour for the event, again signing a one-year renewal for both the Canadian Open and RBC Heritage in 2025.
