Just a few days ago, Canadian pro tennis and pickleball player Eugenie Bouchard suffered a painful injury. During a recent pickleball practice session, Bouchard was struck directly in the eye by an errant ball. After that, she had to be rushed to urgent care, where she was diagnosed with a scratched cornea and made to wear an eyepatch. Since that injury, there has been a new fear that has been lingering in her mind right now, and here’s what she has now come up with as a precautionary measure to battle those fears.
Shortly after suffering from that injury, Eugenie Bouchard shared an update on her X account. She wrote, “Got hit in the eye with a pickleball during training today. It was a shank off my partner’s paddle straight into the eye 😵💫 Went to urgent care and have a scratched cornea. The things we do for this sport! 🥒 Will be healed in a matter of days 🫶🏼.” After that, the Canadian also shared a post-visit photo with a thumbs-up gesture saying, “The things we do for this sport! Will be healed in a matter of days.”
She later on even thanked her fans for their support but admitted that he eye was still hurting. “Thank u for all the messages about my eye! it still hurts but has been improving. at least no more pirate genie.” However, recently Eugenie Bouchard shared a picture of herself on her IG stories. In that picture, she was seen taking some precautionary measures during her return to the court to ensure she didn’t get injured again while playing one of her beloved games. Bouchard was seen wearing glasses and she captioned that IG story, “OK let’s try this again!! bought glasses this morning because i am now too scared to play without them. will def be testing some out!“

“Gonna be epic” – Eugenie Bouchard is excited to take part in the Pickleball Slam 3
Eugenie Bouchard shifted to pickleball from tennis and signed with the PPA Tour last year. Since then the Canadian star has competed in a few events including the 2024 PPA Tour Hyundai Masters in Palm Springs. How does she feel about getting the chance to play with Andy Roddick and fight against someone like Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf for a staggering $1 million prize money at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas?
“I love that it’s mixed doubles. I think fans love mixed doubles in tennis. I’ve always loved playing mixed doubles as a tennis player, so it’s fun to have the women on the court, the men on the court, to have the power from the men and just see how it all combines,” said Eugenie Bouchard. Speaking on her doubles partner, Andy Roddick she said, “I don’t know Andy’s game at all so I think I’ll probably need to call him and be like okay, what are your strengths, what are your weakness? Let’s develop a game plan here.“

However, talking about excitement featuring this mega pickleball event, previously we saw Bouchard uploading a reel and captioning it with, “This is gonna be epic.” Even Andre Agassi expressed his excitement saying, “I can’t wait to return with Steffi and defend our title in February at Slam 3.” These players were also spotted sharing some friendly banters between themselves in the last few weeks. For example, we saw Andy Roddick taking a dig about “carrying” Agassi to victory in the inaugural edition of the Pickleball Slam.
After that, Andre Agassi came back at Roddick by stating, “For me, the calculus is knowing that she’s (Bouchard) going to be the only one out there in that competitive environment, who has learned how to manage her blood pressure and nerves and energy right.” He further heaped praise on the Canadian and literally snubbed Roddick saying, “I think the plan is to always go after the weakness so I think we’re going to play her as little as possible. We’re going to check Andy’s oil.” After hearing this, Bouchard shared that post on her IG story with a cheeky caption. She wrote, “@agassi sounds scared.” How excited are you to see Eugenie Bouchard in action at the Pickleball Slam 3? Let us know in the comments below:
