A 54-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a vehicle in Montreal’s Lachine borough early Wednesday afternoon, police say.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) received a 911 call reporting the collision around 12:25 p.m. When first responders arrived at the scene on du Chalet Avenue near St-Jacques Street, they found the woman under a car, said SPVM spokesperson Mariane Allaire Morin.

After pulling her out from underneath, firefighters performed CPR on the woman. She was rushed to hospital in critical condition, where she later died.

According to initial reports, the driver, a 69-year-old man, was leaving his spot in a parking lot when he hit the woman, said Allaire Morin. He was treated for nervous shock.

The scene is currently protected and investigators are on site to look into what happened.
