Digital ID: A Faster and More Secure Boarding Experience
After a successful pilot, Air Canada and YVR are leading the way in using digital recognition technology at airport gates. With Digital ID in the Air Canada app, passengers can board flights faster by simply walking up to a camera screen. No need to search for a physical ID or boarding pass—your identity is confirmed in seconds. This innovation reduces wait times and makes the boarding process more efficient, allowing early boarding for Digital ID users.
Secure and Convenient
Air Canada’s Digital ID provides a secure, seamless process for identity verification while keeping customers in control of their data. Participation in the program is voluntary, with full consent required before using the service. Passengers who prefer the traditional method of boarding with a boarding pass and photo ID may continue to do so.
Expanding the Digital Experience
Digital ID is also available for access to Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounges in Toronto (YYZ), Calgary, and San Francisco, as well as the Air Canada Café in Toronto. The airline plans to roll out this technology to more airports and touchpoints in the future, further enhancing the passenger experience.
Easy Enrollment
Enrolling in Air Canada’s Digital Identification program is simple and can be done through the Air Canada app. For more information on how to enroll, passengers can visit the airline’s dedicated Digital Identification page.
This initiative is part of Air Canada’s ongoing efforts to modernize air travel, offering passengers a more connected, efficient, and hassle-free journey.
