Air Canada, Star Alliance Receive World Travel Awards

Air Canada has been named the World’s Leading Airline to North America at the World Travel Awards.

“We are delighted that the travel trade have acknowledged Air Canada’s international excellence by voting for us at the World Travel Awards. I thank our more than 39,000 dedicated employees who transport customers safely and deliver customer service excellence globally every day. I also extend my appreciation to our loyal customers for their continued support and trust,” said Lisa M. Pierce, Air Canada’s Vice President of Global Sales and Air Canada Vacations.

According to a press release from the airline, the World Travel Awards recognize excellence across various sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. Winners are determined based on a worldwide poll involving qualified executives in the travel sector alongside consumer travel buyers.

“This recognition is the latest in a series of global awards received by Air Canada for its industry-leading products and services this year,” Air Canada stated.

Accolades include:

  • 2025 Five Star Global Airline Award from the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX)
  • 2024 APEX Best in Entertainment Award in North America
  • World’s Best Business Class Airline Lounge Catering for the Toronto Air Canada Signature Suite (Skytrax)
  • Best Cabin Crew in Canada (Skytrax)
  • Most Family Friendly Airline in North America (Skytrax)
  • Best Premium Economy Class Onboard Catering in North America (Skytrax)
  • Cleanest Airline in North America (Skytrax)

At the ceremony in Madeira, Portugal, Star Alliance, of which Air Canada is a founding member, was also honoured as the World’s Leading Airline Alliance.

Earlier, in the North America edition in July 2024, Star Alliance’s Los Angeles Airport Lounge also achieved significant recognition by securing the title of North America’s Leading Airport Lounge for the fifth year running.

Several Star Alliance member airlines also claimed individual victories this year and were recognized with awards in four categories, including World’s Leading Airline to North America, Asia, Africa, and South America.
