Air Canada to start rolling out free WiFi next May

Must read

Air Canada in May will begin providing free WiFi to members of its Aeroplan frequent flyer program.

The free service will first be offered on routes within the Americas and the Caribbean. The rest of the routes will follow in 2026.

At launch, more than 85% of Air Canada planes will be connected to the free service. The carrier said remaining installations, including on Bombardier Q400 regional planes, will happen through 2025.

Air Canada’s free WiFi will eventually provide continuity with partner United Airlines, which plans to begin testing its own free WiFi early next year before gradually rolling out the offering over the next several years.

Air Canada’s largest domestic rival, WestJet will introduce free WiFi on its first aircraft this month. A rollout for narrowbody planes is scheduled for completion next year, with widebodies slated to be finished by the end of 2026.
