Algerian forward Mohamed Amoura returns to Wolfsburg early

Must read

The Algerian Football Federation have confirmed that Mohamed Amoura is allowed to leave the national team and will therefore return to Wolfsburg today, a boost for the Bundesliga side who are struggling with an increasing number of injuries.

“The two players, Rayan Aït-Nouri (Wolves) and Mohamed Amoura will not travel to Monrovia with the national team after medical advice and authorization from the national coach Vladimir Petković who preferred to preserve them and let them recover without taking any risks,” read a statement on the La Fédération algérienne de football website.

Amoura, who joined Wolfsburg from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for €17m in July, tore a medial ligament at the club’s training camp in Austria last month, and is yet to make his debut, but the Algerian forward has started light running duties again. Yet to return to training, Kicker report that the player’s inclusion in the Algeria squad annoyed the Bundesliga side, who tried convincing the FAF to allow their player to continue his rehabilitation in Germany, to no avail.

But they have now allowed Amoura to travel back to Wolfsburg.
