“The boys played their best baseball of the season at the right time,” head coach Jason Chickowski said. “They hit the cover off the ball and never quit when down. We had some outstanding pitching performances from Matt Cranston, Evan O’Rourke, Ostin Osborne and Levi Gagnier, to name just a few.”

The Diamonds erased 4-0 and 7-4 deficits to beat the North London Nationals 8-7 in the final Monday. They tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth and scored once in the seventh for a walkoff win.
“We got behind a few times, but each time the boys chipped away at the lead putting pressure on a very good Nationals team,” Chickowski said. “In the seventh, Jackson Torrance pinch-ran and was able to sneak out the winning run on a passed ball on a very close play at the plate.”
The Diamonds had a 6-1 record at the four-day, double-knockout tournament.
Ten players – Cranston, O’Rourke, Osborne, Torrance, Gavin Caron, Nolan Schaafsma, Jack Vandergriendt, Brody Jansen, Jack Chickowski and Ashton Degelas – also won the OBA 11U B championship in 2022. Gagnier, Colin Williams and Sid Osborne are the other team members.
