Mikel Arteta has revealed Arsenal will be without Ethan Nwaneri “for a few weeks”.
Nwaneri continued his breakthrough season for the north Londoners by opening the scoring in their Premier League draw at Brighton last Saturday.
The teenager was handed a first top flight start by Arteta in his side’s previous game at Brentford, coincidentally where he also made a senior debut in September 2022.
But the Gunners’ manager confirmed ahead of Tuesday’s EFL Cup clash with Newcastle that Nwaneri is set for a spell on the sidelines with a muscular injury.
“Unfortunately he has picked up an injury and is going to be out for a few weeks”, said Arteta.
Arsenal are aiming to reach their first EFL Cup showpiece since 2018.
