Burnaby police say 43-year-old suspect was intoxicated and arrested at the scene

There’s something in the water – or beer – out west.
For the second time in four months, police were called to a golf course in Burnaby, B.C., after an altercation between golfers.
An intoxicated golfer was arrested earlier this month after smashing a driver over another player’s head, with the incident caught on video.
The altercation took place Oct. 12 at Burnaby Mountain Golf Course when an argument turned physical between two duffers.
In a video posted to X by BCTV, a golfer wearing a pink shirt can heard saying, “You hit f—ing towards me.”

The other golfer, wearing a white hat and dark-coloured shirt, walked toward him and replied, “Do you want to f—ing toy with me?” He then raised his right arm while holding a driver and apparently nailed the first man with a loud thud being heard in the clip.
“What is f—ing wrong with you?” one of the golfers on the course can be heard saying. “Call the f—ing cops!”
Another in a black shirt and hat then approached the alleged assailant to calm him down, asking him to drop the club, which no longer had the head attached to the shaft following the violent swing.
After a brief time curled up on the ground, the golfer in the pink shirt appeared able to get to his feet and walk away under his own power.
Cops told Burnabynow that the 43-year-old suspect was intoxicated and arrested on the scene with no further incident at the course.

The suspect now faces possible assault with a weapon charges among others. He has since been released pending a court date.

The outlet also reported that the victim sustained only minor injuries.
“This is the second time Burnaby officers have dealt with a fight at a golf course since June,” RCMP Cpl. Mike Kalanj told Burnabynow. “It is unacceptable to engage in a physical altercation like this at a recreational facility. Luckily there were no serious injuries.”
The first incident which Kalanj was referencing was a nasty brawl that broke out at Riverway Golf Course in June.
In June, police were called to break up a fight between two groups of golfers at the course after one party allegedly had almost hit the other with their ball “on several occasions.”
