Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has had another major injury setback.

The 28-year-old, who has had a tricky injury history, was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs after an apparent non-contact foot injury in the third quarter. After the game, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters that Chubb had broken his left foot.

During a play fake, Chubb ran towards the line while Jameis Winston kept the ball. Chubb then appeared to take a heavy step on his left foot, and pulled up, holding his left foot in the air. He was initially ruled as questionable, then was officially ruled out by the team after an evaluation.

The Chiefs went on to win the game, 21-7.

After the game, Chubb left the locker room with crutches and a boot on his left foot, per The Athletic’s Zac Jackson.

Chubb missed the start of the season after suffering a brutal injury to his left knee in September 2023; he had previously injured the same knee in 2015. After spending more than a year overcoming the injury, Chubb made his 2024 season debut in Week 7’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, and scored a touchdown in his return.

Prior to leaving Sunday’s game, Chubb had nine carries, running for 41 yards. He also lost a fumble, and let a pass slip that led to Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton getting a wild interception.
