Ottawa University women’s basketball head coach, Hunter Bondurant has announced the hiring of Robin Campbell as the program’s assistant coach.
“We are juiced about Robin Campbell joining our staff,” said Bondurant. “Robin has to be one of the few coaches in the industry who can say they scored 1,500 points in college while also being able to work at one of the best NCAA Division II programs in the country at Central Missouri. She was an easy hire having immediately displayed our core values of great communication, positive belief and having the juice! I’m extremely excited and grateful to see the impact she will make with our student-athletes both on and off the court. She will be a major piece to our success as a program moving forward and will have an even bigger impact on all Brave Nation!”
Campbell comes to Ottawa University from the University of Central Missouri (UCM), where she spent two years as part of the Jennie women’s basketball program under head coach David Slifer. She was a graduate assistant in 2022-23 until November when an injury to a player had Campbell lace up her sneakers one more time. The Jennies finished the season with an overall record of 25-5 and spent most of the season ranked in the NCAA II Top 10.
Campbell was a graduate assistant in 2023-24. While at UCM, she assisted with preseason workouts, helped with on-campus recruiting visits, and was involved with team and individual player camps.
“I am so excited and grateful to be joining Coach Bondurant and the Ottawa family,” said Campell. “Coach B has incredible energy and a great vision for a successful future for the Braves. It’s truly an honor to be given the opportunity to contribute to the success of this team and help build upon the winning culture here at Ottawa. I’m thrilled to be a part of a program and a university that is so supportive of its athletes on and off the court. I cannot wait to get to work and to BRING THE JUICE!”
Campbell was a four-year letterwinner on the basketball court at Malone University and a four-time All-Great Midwest selection for the Pioneers. Campbell averaged 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. For her career, she shot 52 percent from the floor, 43.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and scored a total of 1,560 points. Campbell graduated from Malone with a degree in sports management and business administration with a coaching minor.
She will graduate with her masters degree in sports management from UCM in 2024.
What the second all-time winningest active head coach in NCAA Division II (805 victories), Dave Slifer, has to say about Coach Campbell.
“Coach Bondurant hit a home run with his hire of Robin Campbell. Robin came to the University of Central Missouri two years ago as a graduate assistant. After helping our team get in shape in the fall, one of our players received a season-ending injury and she was activated as a player in November and helped us to a 25-5 record. This year she was strictly a graduate assistant and did an outstanding job. The players, Coach Bondurant, Ottawa University and the community will enjoy her enthusiasm and work ethic.”
