Canada’s employment rate crept up to 6.6 per cent in August, even as it added 22,000 jobs, mostly part time, says Statistics Canada’s monthly labour force survey.

The report released Friday said it was the fourth month in a row that jobs numbers were mostly flat.

It said there was an increase in 66,000 part-time jobs, but these were largely offset by the loss of 44,000 full-time jobs.

More to come.
