The Redblacks signed defensive back Adarius Pickett to a one-year contract as they gear up for the 2024 season, the club said on Tuesday.
The move came right after the pending free agent was officially released by the Toronto Argonauts on Tuesday morning.
“We are excited to welcome Adarius to RNation,” said Redblacks general manager Shawn Burke. “His talent and production, along with the passion he brings both on and off the field made it an easy decision for us to get this deal done.”
He was number 8 on the CFL’s top 30 pending free agent list.
Pickett started his CFL run with the Montreal Alouettes in 2021 before signing with the Toronto Argonauts in 2023. The 27-year-old, Berkeley, California product finished second in the CFL with 124 tackles.
Pickett was named an All-Star for the first time following the season.
Prior to joining the CFL in 2021, he played college football at UCLA before signing with the Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Chargers and New England Patriots.
The Redblacks will play their first game during during week two of the 2024 CFL season.
