Since 2017, Fortune and Boston Consulting Group have conjured an annual list of companies that appear poised to grow long-term while also being prepared to innovate and adapt as an unpredictable future unfolds.
The “Future 50” list for 2024 includes Vancouver’s Clio, a pioneer in the legal-tech field—the only B.C.-based entity in this year’s edition.
Ranking 18th from over 3,000 candidates, Clio is on the Future 50 list for the first time, which has founder and chief executive officer Jack Newton stoked.
“Being named to Fortune’s Future 50 List is a remarkable honour for Clio and reflects the incredible work of our team,” Newton stated.
“It underscores our commitment to challenging the status quo, making a lasting impact, and building a future-ready organization,” he said.
Clio’s inclusion highlights an “exceptional track record of growth, driven by a balanced focus on long-term success and continuous innovation for our customers,” according to a statement from the company.
The legal-tech’s platform integrates with nearly 300 applications and is recognized by more than 100 law societies and bar associations globally, including all 50 U.S. state bar associations.
Notably, Clio is the only legal-tech on this year’s Future 50 and one of just two Canadians (the other being Ottawa’s Shopify).
The B.C. company has been on a steady roll for years. In 2024, a BetaKit Town Hall in Vancouver’s UBC Robson Square and ClioCon capped off a year of success.
Those successes included a massive fundraising round as well as being named to Forbes’ 2024 Cloud 100 list for the first time.
Headquartered in Burnaby, with offices in Calgary and Toronto, Clio has more than 1,100 employees.
The company was founded in 2008.
