This season has been quite the disappointment for the Chicago Bears. As the losses continue to pile up, the most recent being the team’s seventh straight, most fans are already looking forward to the 2025 NFL draft. Currently, with a 4-9 record on the season and four games remaining, the Bears sit with the No. 9 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and they’re projected to have three selections in the Top 50 picks.
As fans and media turn their focus on draft selections, Bears players are looking to end their season on a positive note. Stopping their losing streak is of the utmost importance, as they close out the season with three of their four remaining games against NFC North divisional opponents.
Tight end Cole Kmet spoke to the media on Tuesday and made it clear that no one on the team is playing to help draft position, and winning football games is the focus.
“None of us in here are playing for draft picks,” Kmet said. “I mean, that’s something you’d have to ask management, but that’s not anything the players in the locker room care about.”
Having been a part of several losing streaks since joining the Bears in 2020, Kmet has heard the discussion of tanking for a better draft pick for most of his young career in Chicago.
There seems to be a consistent theme in the locker room, that none of the players on the Bears are happy with how the season has gone, and further more, the only cure to their problems will be winning football games.
