Commanders fire VP of content after disparaging comments about players, fans caught on camera

The Washington Commanders have fired vice president of content Rael Enteen after a hidden camera video showed him making disparaging comments about players, fans and other NFL figures. The Commanders confirmed his firing Thursday morning to The Athletic.

Enteen had been with the Commanders for four years. He was filmed by an undercover member of the O’Keefe Media Group who matched with him on an unknown dating app. The group is known for publishing secretly recorded videos, and founder James O’Keefe has been found liable in the past of using deceptive tactics and editing to obtain and publish his videos.

In the video, reportedly recorded over two dates and then edited down to 11 minutes, Enteen can be heard calling players “dumb” and “homophobic.” He calls fans “mouth breathers” and “alcoholics” with a high-school education, and accuses Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones of being homophobic and racist.

The Commanders have not released a statement about Enteen’s firing, but they did release one on Wednesday when they suspended him.

“The language used in the video runs counter to our values at the Commanders organization,” the team said via ESPN. “We have suspended the employee pending an investigation and will reserve further comment at this time.”
