Dallas Cowboys acquire former second-round pick in trade with Carolina Panthers

Must read

The Dallas Cowboys have acquired wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick, a source has confirmed. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network was the first to report.

Mingo, a second-round pick (No. 39 overall) in 2023, has 55 receptions for 539 yards and no touchdowns in 24 career games. With inconsistency at quarterback, Mingo never found his stride in Carolina. To make matters tougher for the Ole Miss product, the Panthers brought in rookie wide receiver Xavier Legette who has taken a lot of Mingo’s opportunities from a year ago.

At 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, Mingo adds physicality to a Cowboys receiving corps that has been pushed around by opposing secondaries this season, resulting in the Cowboys being near the top of the list in tight-window passing attempts on the season.

On his weekly radio show on Tuesday morning, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said that Mingo was somebody that the Cowboys liked during the draft process. He also indicated that the Cowboys are “buyers, not sellers” ahead of this afternoon’s NFL trade deadline.
