Diogo Jota SOLVES Liverpool’s big problem all on his own

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota set about solving a problem all on his own against Wolves. The player is finding new ways to improve.

Diogo Jota has scored some goals this season but his Premier League form has been a worry. However, he’s not entirely to blame.

The biggest problem facing Jota has been his lack of involvement. He completed just six passes in his last Premier League start (the defeat against Nottingham Forest). There were only seven completed against Manchester United.

Your goalscorer is going to struggle to make things happen if you don’t consistently get him the ball. That’s a truth that Liverpool have now come to realise.

There was a clear effort for Jota to be more involved against Wolves. He moved around the pitch far more often and tried to get involved.

That was certainly most obvious in the opener as Jota drifted wide and created the opener. He found himself on the left flank, worked some space, then played a perfect cross for Ibrahima Konate to score.

It was also Jota who won the penalty for the second. Whether Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross would have found him or not ended up being irrelevant – Jota’s movement caused so much trouble that they fouled him.

The big problem, then, was solved. Liverpool couldn’t get Jota into games – so he took this one over instead.

Diogo Jota moving up a level

Jota made all this happen just a few days after scoring twice – and essentially winning – the game against West Ham United. He’s proving to be an incredibly dangerous player right now and at a time when Liverpool need him to be.

Mohamed Salah struggled to get into the game, while Luis Diaz had a rare off night. Jota, though, stepped up to make things happen.

Liverpool’s no.20 solved his own problem and in turn, the team’s.
