The Philadelphia Eagles return from abroad for a Week 2 Monday Night Football home opener looking to re-assert themselves at the top of the NFC against the Atlanta Falcons, a team licking its wounds after an 0-1 start.
New Atlanta quarterback Kirk Cousins hopes to bounce back after a disappointing debut to the 2024 season. The Falcons lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 18-10, in Week 1 and Cousins was shaky in his first game back from a torn Achilles suffered last October, completing just 16 of his 26 passes for 155 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
The Eagles went to Brazil to open the 2024 campaign and came away with an encouraging 34-29 win over the Green Bay Packers that eased some concerns following the franchise’s tailspin at the end of last season. The partnership between new running back Saquon Barkley, quarterback Jalen Hurts, wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith and new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore looked potent in Sao Paolo.
