GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Dozens of first responder personnel and volunteers will meet up in Grand Haven Wednesday for a mass casualty incident exercise.
Held at Harvest Church in Grand Haven, the exercise will train law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical service providers, dispatchers and volunteer actors in a simulation designed to prepare for mass casualty responses.
“We are already confident in our first responders and medical professionals in Ottawa; they all know their jobs well, but this exercise tests coordination and efficiency across the disciplines as they work together,” said Lou Hunt, Ottawa County Emergency Management Director.
The church will be shut down to the public beginning at 3 p.m. for setup. The exercise will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., according to officials.
The exercise is co-hosted by the Grand Haven Township Fire Department, the City of Grand Haven Department of Public Safety, Ottawa County Emergency Management and the Ottawa Medical Control Board Authority.
