Fulham vs Brighton & Hove Albion
The full-time whistle blows at Craven Cottage as Alex Iwobi’s double lifts Fulham up to sixth in the Premier League after a brilliant three points against a spirited Brighton outfit. The encounter was played in awful conditions of heavy rain and strong winds, but it was Bart Verbruggen’s early mistake which gifted the hosts a surprise early lead. The Dutchman’s short pass was intercepted by the former Arsenal midfielder who made no mistake as he slid the ball into an empty net. However, the Seagulls rallied in the second half and deservedly equalised thanks to Baleba’s fine strike but it was the Cottagers who claimed the victory thanks to Matt O’Riley’s own goal and Iwobi’s second goal of the match. Despite the narrow defeat in west London, Fabian Hurzeler’s side had a superior xG with 1.34, while the home side had an xG of 0.68. Next up for Fulham is a home clash against title challengers Arsenal on Sunday, while Brighton face Leicester City on the road. Thanks for reading!
