Golf finishes third, fourth at Canada West Championships – University of Victoria Athletics

Kelowna, B.C. – The University of Victoria men’s and women’s golf teams finished third and fourth, respectively, at the Canada West Golf Championships, Oct. 7-8 at the Okanagan Golf Club.

Koira, Knight post top Vikes finishes, earn conference all-star accolades

  • On the women’s side, Cindy Koira finished third individually, carding rounds of 74 and 69 to finish -3 overall on the par-73 course.
  • Playing par-72 on the men’s side, Jagre Knight finished with rounds of 69 and 72 to finish in fifth place individually at -3 overall in his first Canada West Championship appearance.
  • Koira earned Canada West First Team All-Star honours, while Knight collected Canada West Second Team All-Star recognition for their top finishes. 

Lines, Gilewich finish even

  • Tying for 11th individually, Maguire Lines and Becker Gilewich each finished even overall after two rounds of play. Lines shot rounds of 71 and 73, while Gilewich went 69, 75 to finish even.

Davies, Ho, and Johnson add top-20 finishes

  • Posting rounds of 79 and 80 resulted in a +13 overall score for Brynne Davies, who finished in 15th. Antonia Ho finished close behind in a tie for 16th, shooting 81 and 83 to finish +8 overall.
  • Myles Johnson tied for 16th on the men’s side, going 71, 75 to finish +2 overall.

Croft, Adam and Scabar round out Vikes competitors

  • Owen Croft and Taylor Adam each finished tied for 21st individually in their respective divisions. Croft shot 76, 73 to finish +5 overall, while Adam carded two rounds of 84 to finish +22 overall.
  • Ella Scabar tied for 27th, recording rounds of 89 and 91 to finish +34 overall.

Vikes take third, fourth as teams

  • In the five-count-four format on the men’s side, the Vikes finished -3 collectively after two rounds of play to finish in third place as a team.
  • The women’s side played five-count-three format, resulting in a fourth place finish with a +28 collective result.
