Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that captain Callum McGregor will return from injury to face Dundee on Wednesday but revealed that Adam Idah still has his foot in a protective boot.
McGregor was missing from midfield for Sunday’s win over Motherwell, with Rodgers hopeful it was just “the wear and tear of playing so many games”, while striker Idah came off injured after a Liam Gordon challenge.
“We are obviously analysing and looking at one or two of the guys that had some knocks,” the Northern Irishman told Celtic TV. “Callum, we are just waiting to hear back, but we think that is good news with him.
“It won’t do him any harm to miss out a game. He is so consistent and such a committed player.
“You know if there is a niggle with him, it really has to be something that is quite sore for him not to be involved, but we are hopeful it is just a case of that fatigue of putting so much in.
“I think you seen his numbers that he has covered the most ground of any player in the Champions League. It tells you how much work he is putting in. We are hopeful he can be involved in some part Wednesday, but if not, definitely Saturday.”
Rodgers said “we just have to wait and see” the extent of Idah’s injury.
“Adam Idah was on the end of a poor challenge,” he said. “He’s still got his foot in a boot at the moment, but we are hoping he has got away with that.”
Meanwhile, Rodgers added that Cameron Carter-Vickers still “needs to build up that match fitness” after the centre-half returned from injury as a substitute at Fir Park, while left-back Greg Taylor could also feature against Dundee after his return as an unused replacement.
