Guernsey FC ended their 11-game winless run in style as they beat 10-man South Park 3-0 in Isthmian League South Central.
Having thrown away a 3-0 lead in the final 15 minutes at Ascot United last week the Green Lions took no chances as Sam Murray scored twice inside the opening 10 minutes.
The forward converted from Matt Loaring’s second-minute ball before slotting home Charlton Gauvain’s cross five minutes later.
Loaring got his fourth goal in three games from close range to make it 3-0 after 18 minutes.
It should have been 4-0 five minutes from half time but Ross Allen blasted a penalty against the bar and the visitors had Danny Dudley sent off after getting a second booking in the aftermath.
Loaring hit the bar with 12 minutes left after a quiet second period as the islanders got what was just a third win of the season to move them up to third-from-bottom of the table, seven points from safety.
“It was a very much-needed three points, but really a much deserved win,” said Guernsey coach Steve Sharman.
“When you follow on from last week where we picked up a point away against a very difficult team that chunks together nicely, we’d have taken four points from those two matches.”
