Harris campaign launches new ad tying Trump to Robinson scandal in battleground North Carolina: Live

Kamala Harris’s campaign has released a new ad seeking to tie Donald Trump to embattled North Carolina Lt Gov Mark Robinson, engulfed in a scandal relating to online posts on a porn forum.

There are reports that Robinson will not be attending a Trump rally organized in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Saturday, suggesting the former president’s campaign team may be trying to distance him from the scandal.

Meanwhile, Harris told Oprah Winfrey that she would shoot an intruder in her home as the vice president addressed gun violence, the cost of living, reproductive rights, and immigration in an event on Thursday evening.

The pair sat down for their “Unite for America” live-streamed rally in Michigan before an in-person and remote audience that included the likes of Chris Rock and Julia Roberts.

Also on Thursday, Trump said that Jewish American voters will bear “a lot” of blame if he loses the election, he told the Israeli-American Council National Summit in Washington on Thursday.

Today, Harris will rally voters in the key battlegrounds of Marietta, Georgia, and Madison, Wisconsin, while Trump is holding a fundraiser in Miami, Florida.

In an interview with ABC News broadcast on Good Morning America, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff told anchor Michael Strahan that comments made about Vice President Kamala Harris by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders we “appalling”, “repulsive”, and “so out of touch”.

The governor said earlier this week: “My kids keep me humble. … Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything keeping her humble.”

Said Emhoff: “Yeah, it’s appalling for somebody who is in a position of leadership, like governor, to say something so repulsive and so out of touch — not only on the 1 — mispronouncing her name, which is disrespectful. She knows what her name is. And then, 2 — as if you need to have your own biological children to be humble.”

He added: “But then — then to say as if women should be humble. And you can see the pushback — even from … within her own party, because it’s a repulsive thing to say.”

“In today’s hyperdynamic threat environment, the mission of the Secret Service is clear: we cannot afford to fail.

After a review of the planning, event details, and coordination with partner agencies regarding the attempted assassination of former President Trump on July 13th, our Mission Assurance investigation is nearing completion. As I have said, this was a failure on the part of the United States Secret Service.

It’s important that we hold ourselves to account for the failures of July 13th and that we use the lessons learned to make sure that we do not have another mission failure like this again.

The Mission Assurance investigation findings have prompted the Secret Service to move into the accountability phase of this process. The Office of Professional Responsibility and the Office of Integrity are reviewing the findings. This agency has among the most robust table of penalties in the federal government, and violations of policy will result in disciplinary action.

North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson declared that he’s staying in the gubernatorial race following CNN’s bombshell report that he had an account on a adult website site called “Nude Africa” ten years ago.

On the site, the MAGA ally allegedly referred to himself as a “Black Nazi,” said “some people need to be slaves” and allegedly admitted “I like watching tranny on girl porn!”

Robinson declared that Democratic nominee Josh Stein’s campaign leaked the story to the outlet, shortly before the article’s publication. He said that the details in the report are false.

“Let me assure you, the things you will see in that story, those are not the words of Mark Robinson,” Robinson said. “You know my words. You know my character, and you know that I have been completely transparent in this race and before.”

The GOP nominee and other large shareholders in Trump Media & Tech Group were released at 4pm on Thursday from a lockup agreement that barred them from selling their stock for six months after it was offered. The agreement has been in place since March, when the company went public following a merger, so long as shares traded at $12 or above, Forbes reported.

More voters say Harris is ‘tough enough’ to be president than Trump, new poll shows

There are just 47 days until November’s presidential election and the latest AP/NORC poll shows Kamala Harris pulling ahead of Donald Trump as the candidate of which voters have a more positive view.

Specifically, the vice president scores higher on where she is “tough enough to be president”, “would change the country for the better”, and “would fight for people like you”.

The former president meanwhile scores highest on “will say anything to win the election”.

Capping the poll off, a larger share of registered voters believe Harris will win on November 5 (40 per cent) over Trump (28 per cent). One-fifth of respondents think both candidates have an equal shot at the White House.

Majorities of both Democratic registered voters and Republican registered voters think their respective candidate will win, while there independent registered voters favor Harris over Trump, but with almost a quarter saying they do not know enough.

In July, after the Republican convention but before Harris was officially designated as the Democratic nominee, the public was more likely to think Trump would prevail over Harris.

While registered voters are divided on whether Harris would make a good president (47 per cent to 41 per cent), a majority think Trump would not (59 per cent to 36 per cent). These views are heavily influenced by partisanship, with about 8 in 10 Democratic voters and Republican voters believing their respective party’s nominees would make a good president.

Registered voters also have more positive views of Harris than Trump as a candidate. While Harris narrowly beats Trump on whether they are each tough enough to be president (43 per cent versus 42 per cent), slightly more think Harris would fight for people like them and would change the country for the better compared with Trump. And six in 10 think Trump will say anything to win the election compared with four in 10 who think the same about Harris.

Currently, about half of registered voters have a favorable opinion of Harris compared with 37% who have a favorable opinion of Trump. The candidates’ favorability ratings are currently similar to August. Last month, the August 2024 AP-NORC Poll found that 48 per cent of the public had a favorable opinion of Harris and 41 per cent had a favorable opinion of Trump.

The latest poll found that 88 per cent of Democratic voters have a favorable view of Harris, while 77 per cent of Republican voters have a positive opinion of Trump.

The nationwide poll was conducted between September 12-16, 2024 using the AmeriSpeak® Panel, the probability-based panel of NORC at the University of Chicago. Online and telephone interviews using landlines and cell phones were conducted with 2,028 adults, including 1,771 self-reported registered voters. The overall margin of sampling error is +/- 3.1 percentage points; +/- 3.5 percentage points for registered voters.

Kamala Harris blasted Donald Trump for making sure that the bipartisan border bill didn’t pass.

“Here’s what that border security bill would have done. It would have put 1,500 more border agents at the border. Let me tell you, those border agents are working around the clock,” she said. “It would have just been about giving them some support and relief, which is probably why the border agents actually endorsed the bill.”

She added: “It would have allowed us to stem the flow of fentanyl. And I’m looking at people from all over the country here, so I don’t need to tell the folks who are watching this what fentanyl has done to families, to kids in our country.”

Donald Trump has gone after Howard Stern for turning on the former president in recent years, something Trump has blamed on the radio show host becoming “woke.”

Trump appeared on the Fox News late-night show Gutfeld! on Wednesday evening where he was shown a clip of the radio host and several other celebrities lambasting the former president.

Hunter Biden’s federeal firearms sentencing delayed until December

Hunter Biden will be sentenced on felony firearms charges in December after the judge agreed Thursday to a delay requested by the defense.

In June, President Joe Biden ‘s son was convicted in Delaware federal court of three felonies for purchasing a gun in 2018 when, prosecutors said, he lied on a federal form by claiming he was not illegally using or addicted to drugs.

He was initially scheduled to be sentenced on November 13, but the judge agreed to delay the hearing until December 4 after Hunter Biden’s lawyers said they needed more time to adequately prepare.

Donald Trump is now free to start selling shares in Truth Social’s parent company, worth nearly $2 billion, but he seems poised to hold onto them.

The GOP nominee and other large shareholders in Trump Media & Tech Group were released at 4pm on Thursday from a lockup agreement that barred them from selling their stock for six months after it was offered. The agreement has been in place since March, when the company went public following a merger, so long as shares traded at $12 or above, Forbes reported.

Trump owns nearly 57 percent of all shares in the company, traded under the ticker DJT. His stake is worth roughly $1.7 billion.

North Carolina’s Republican candidate for governor, Mark Robinson, referred to himself as a “black Nazi” and said “slavery is good,” among other shocking remarks, on a porn forum, according to reporting from CNN’s KFile.

Earlier on Thursday, independent journalist Bryan Anderson had said that Robinson’s campaign was bearing down a negative story about to break. A few hours later, CNN’s KFile reported that he had an account on a porn site called “Nude Africa” where the anti-transgender conservative admitted that “I like watching tranny on girl porn!”

The social conservative, who has taken a stance against promiscuity in the past, wrote: “yeah, I’m a perv too,” and reportedly said on the same site when told that a celebrity had had an abortion: “I don’t care. I just wanna see the tape!”

Robinson denies the allegations and told CNN that the account they had found on the porn site was not his.

Better-than-expected jobless claims data further stoked global risk appetite.

On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve announced a rate cut at the high end of expectations, and said it had greater confidence inflation was under control. Fed Chair Jerome Powell said the US economy remained strong and the central bank would decide on the appropriate pace of future rate cuts.

The Martin County Deputies who detained the suspect in the second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump signed the handcuffs used in the arrest and gifted them to Trump.

The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, was detained on Sunday after a Secret Service agent spotted a rifle through the fence at Trump’s golf course near West Palm Beach, Florida as the former president was playing a round on Sunday.

The agent opened fire and Routh fled but he was later detained after a woman took a photo of his license plate and alerted the authorities.

Trump met the deputies at Mar-a-Lago after the arrest.

After months of negative coverage and attacks from Democrats, Trump and his top aides are both engaged in a conscious effort to distance the former president from the project whenever possible. That effort drew to a heated pitch this summer as top Trump campaign officials Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles released a statement crowing over the resignation of a top Project 2025 operative and declaring the various groups involved with the plan to be speaking on the former president’s behalf without his permission.

This wasn’t supposed to be how the election went at all. The question remains: How did the Heritage Foundation and the other conservative groups behind Project 2025 fumble the bag this badly?

The ex-wife of Kamala Harris’s husband has yet again defended the vice president on social media after she was attacked for not having biological children.

Kerstin Emhoff rushed to Harris’s defense after Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders appeared to sneer at the Democratic presidential candidate for not having biological children at a town hall event in Flint, Michigan with Donald Trump on Tuesday.

“My kids keep me humble,” Sanders, who also served as White House Press Secretary under Trump, said at the event. “Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything keeping her humble.”

Emhoff was quick to speak out against the comments on social media on Tuesday night.
