‘Screaming Hysterically’: Woman Mistakenly Uses Nail Glue Instead of Eye Drops

A diabetic woman from Sanford, Florida, was rushed to the hospital after accidentally putting nail glue in her eye instead of eye drops during a blood-sugar episode earlier in November.Edie Brianne Shipley, seen in the footage, told Storyful that she has type 2 diabetes and was experiencing a sugar episode in the middle of the night when her eye-drop alarm went off.“I was half asleep and needed to put in my antibiotic drops, but instead of grabbing the eye drops, I picked up the Kiss nail glue,” Shipley says in the video, holding up the similarly sized bottles. “After it happened, I was literally screaming hysterically, telling my phone to call 911, trying to wake my son up…”According to Shipley, her cousin’s quick action in helping her flush out the glue ultimately saved her eye. She said that doctors did “a great job” and removed at least “three shards of superglue” from her left eye.“I don’t think there’s going to be any permanent damage. My eyelashes still have a little bit of glue, but I’m okay.” Credit: Edie Brianne Shipley via Storyful
