Hong Kong Airlines Expands Long-Haul Network With Flights To Australia And Canada

Hong Kong Airlines will soon resume its direct long-haul flights to Gold Coast, Australia, and Vancouver, Canada, starting in January 2025. The new connections will bring Queensland and British Columbia closer to Hong Kong and China, marking a significant step towards Hong Kong Airlines’ long-haul expansion plans.

The airline will increase its Gold Coast services to four weekly flights from January 17 to February 14 to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year. This seasonal boost will offer increased connectivity and warmly welcome travellers from Hong Kong and beyond.

Hong Kong Airlines resumes long-haul flights to Gold Coast, Australia, and Vancouver, Canada

Hong Kong Airlines Chairman Jeff Sun shared that they were the first Hong Kong-based carrier to start long-haul service to the Gold Coast. Vancouver will be the initial North American destination as the airline continues to expand its long-haul network. The airline aims to expand its North American presence further, with potential destinations including Toronto, Los Angeles, and Seattle.

The Hong Kong Airlines’ long-haul flight schedule between Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and Gold Coast Airport (OOL), according to local time:

• HKG – OOL: Flight number HX015 departing at 11 pm and arriving the next day at 8:55 am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
• OOL – HKG: Flight number HX016 departing at 10:25 am and arriving at 5:20 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Hong Kong Airlines’ long-haul flights to the Gold Coast will be operated on A330 wide-body aircraft, offering approximately 6,000 seats during the festive season. Queensland will not only have a smooth connection from Hong Kong, but travellers from the extensive network in Greater China will also be able to fly to the Gold Coast seamlessly.
